Transforming Lives 2.0 Capital Campaign Funds Renovation of Long Term Care Unit at Children's Specialized Hospital in Mountainside

In late May, CSH Foundation welcomed donors to be the first to see the renovations their generosity made possible at our original hospital in Mountainside.

The new state-of-the-art pediatric long term care unit features upgraded patient rooms and the addition of 14 new beds that will allow us to care for a total of 64 children.

Our long term care residents are our most medically fragile patients whose conditions do not allow for them to be cared for at home. Pediatric Long Term Care and Palliative Care services at Children's Specialized Hospital provide these kids with exceptional care, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

This newly renovated unit includes new features like family break and visit/sleep rooms, a dedicated space for occupational/activities of daily living therapy (designed as a market and post office), a virtual reality room, and a sensory spa/hair salon. Additionally, enhanced medical and dental examination rooms, a classroom, and pharmacy were added along with a renovated pool and a beautiful new fish tank.

The renovations to CSH Mountainside were fully funded by philanthropy through the Transforming Lives 2.0 capital campaign. CSH Foundation has raised over $43 million dollars to fund this, and other vital expansion projects over the last three years.

“So much of what Children’s Specialized is today, started at this Mountainside location over 130 years ago,” said Philip Salerno III, President and Chief Development Officer, CSH Foundation. “It is gratifying to see the appreciation of our donors and friends as we rededicate this site to a new generation of children.”
