Children's Specialized Hospital Foundation has created a unique online wish list detailing how your donations can provide the very best for our children. These gifts represent the most urgent needs of the hospital and our patients. Through your generosity, you can help make each day memorable for all our children with a simple click.

$25 - Gift of Imagination

Children’s Specialized Hospital offers a wide range of therapies for children facing special health challenges, including developmental issues like autism and mental health.  Making time for Art Therapy – painting, drawing, sculpting – helps struggling children explore their emotions, develop self-awareness, cope with stress, boost self-esteem and improve social skills.  With your gift of $25, you’re giving children with special health care needs the opportunity to open their hearts, express their emotions and find JOY!

$50 - Gift of Play

It’s wonderful to see a child’s face light up when they receive a new toy! For many children treated at Children’s Specialized, limited motor skills make common toys and games frustrating and difficult to play. These kids require specially modified toys, adapted to their specific limitation to aid their growth and development. The benefits of play for improving motor skills and reaching developmental goals are overwhelming! Adaptive toys can make a marked difference in a child’s development, along with hours of enjoyment. Your $50 gift provides a child the happiness of a toy they can play with this holiday season.

$100 - Gift of Togetherness

Give togetherness this holiday season. Travel costs to and from the hospital can be prohibitive for many families, especially during these difficult times. The Children’s Specialized Hospital Transportation Benefit Fund was set up to address this need, ensuring patients can return home safely when they are ready to be discharged. Your gift of $100 helps kids at our inpatient hospital in New Brunswick safely return home to spend the holidays with their families, surrounded by love.

$250 - Gift of Innovative Care

Telehealth has offered doctors and therapists the opportunity to connect with patients in a whole new way during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our staff developed new and innovative ways to provide care via video or phone call to ensure that our medically fragile patients continued to make progress safely. This summer, 75% of our patients were receiving life-changing care through telehealth and were able to avoid setbacks in their rehabilitation progress.

“Our patients need help now more than ever,” says Dr. Malia Beckwith, Section Chief of Developmental Behavioral Pediatrics. “They need the resources to continue on their regular fight in the midst of the pandemic. Many children who are receiving therapy are medically complex and at greater risk for infection. Telehealth is a great option for them during this uncertain time and will prove beneficial in the future as well.”

Your gift of $250 will help to expand our telehealth services, ensuring greater access for our patients to get the care they need, no matter the circumstances.

$500 - Gift of Independence

The Rehabilitation Technology Department is a unique specialty resource offered at Children’s Specialized Hospital.  Comprised of a group of expert therapists specially trained in the area of adaptive equipment, this team focuses on the specific equipment needs of each patient. From gait trainers and power wheelchairs to strollers and bath equipment, Rehabilitation Technology is integral in helping CSH kids gain independence and reach their full potential.

With specialized adaptive equipment, children who once couldn’t leave their rooms are able to join their families on trips to the park; children who once needed help with getting dressed are now putting their own socks and shoes on and children who once felt isolated can interact with their family and friends in a whole new way.  These steps toward independence are life changing for the patients we serve.

With your gift of $500, you are giving children access to life changing equipment and tools they need to reach their full potential.

Every child in the LTC program receives individualized medical and therapeutic care so they can reach their full potential and families have confidence knowing that their child is receiving round-the-clock, dignified and compassionate medical and nursing care.

The costs for Long Term Care are significant – with the cost per night averaging over $850. With your gift of $850, you are preserving access to a loving home with exceptional care for our most medically fragile patients.
